  • Thirty years ago, Deng Xiaoping put forward the three orientations of Chinas education, namely the orientation towards modernization, towards the whole world and towards the future. It was put forward in the background of building socialist modernization at the beginning of Chinas reform and opening to the outside world. The essential meaning of the idea is to cultivate personnel with good command of modern science and technology to serve for the socialist modernization in the scientific advancement in China. The idea of the “Three Orientations of Education” is the guiding principle of Chinas educational reform and development.
