  • The problem of girl-dropouts has been the issue in the campaign for wiping out illiteracy and promoting obligatory education. Many studies show that the poorer the district is, the lower the rate of enrollment of schoolgirls is, and the higher the rate of dropouts is. This paper investigates girls' parents in eight remote areas, and finds six disadvantages of their attitude and choice to girls' education, their lower cultural quality and underdeveloped economy result in girl-dropouts. It puts forward a series of counter-measures to improve family, social and school environment of girls' education.
