On Distributed Temperature Measurement of OPGW Based on Raman Scattering

  • The operation and environmental condition of optical fiber composite overhear ground wire (OPGW) has always been the concerns of operation branch of power supply .The distributed temperature measurement of OPGW based on the Raman scattering has been introduced in this paper .During the tem-perature measurement ,simulated lightning experiment of OPGW has been carried out .The Raman back scattering signals in the fiber of OPGW have been obtained through the wavelength division multiplexer and the photoelectric converter .T he corresponding electrical signals have been sampled by the A/D con-verter and processed in the signal processing unit to achieve accurate temperature of OPGW .The measured results show that the accurate temperatures along OPGW can be obtained by using the proposed method . The measured temperature error is about 0 .2 ℃ ,which indicates the proposed method can be applied in on-line monitoring the OPGW of transmission lines .
