  • As a unique aesthetic entity in the history of modern Chinese language education,the formal aesthetics of Xia Mianzun??s Chinese language education theories finds its values in making the Chinese language education more scientific,lively and in realizing the aesthetic function of Chinese language education.Unfortunately,researches focus more on textual form rather than the way of teaching;more on formal doctrines rather than the formal aesthetics;and more on pragmatics rather than aes-thetics of language education.However,these borderline studies have enriched the thoughts of Xia Mianzun??s formal aesthetics in Chinese language education in terms of broadening the dimensions, deepening the connotations,strengthening the textual forms and finding the values of the forms. Thus,a further review and abstraction of the ideas in these borderline studies is of great significance in enhancing the research of his formal aesthetic views of Chinese language education.

Abstract: As a unique aesthetic entity in the history of modern Chinese language education,the formal aesthetics of Xia Mianzun??s Chinese language education theories finds its values in making the Chinese language education more scientific,lively and in realizing the aesthetic function of Chinese language education.Unfortunately,researches focus more on textual form rather than the way of teaching;more on formal doctrines rather than the formal aesthetics;and more on pragmatics rather than aes-thetics of language education.However,these borderline studies have enriched the thoughts of Xia Mianzun??s formal aesthetics in Chinese language education in terms of broadening the dimensions, deepening the connotations,strengthening the textual forms and finding the values of the forms.
