Welfare Dependency in an Angle of Psychology——Based on a Survey of 1431 lowest Social Security Objects in Foshan City

Abstract: Although our policy of safeguard for the minimum standard of living is totally different between the welfare policy in the west, there's been some confusion about whether welfare dependency is also present in our minimum living standard security system.Unlike past literatures, this paper attempts a largescale survey with 1431 lowest social security objects of thinking the influent factors of welfare dependency from psychological angle in Foshan city.Identity recognition and social support are two factors involved in the analysis.On the basis of distinguishing two groups as good working capacity and partial working capacity, the results show that the welfare dependency effects are different in two groups according to the different demographic characteristics.More importantly, three dimensions of social support are verified to be the very important influence factors for welfare dependency.But the mechanism of identity recognition needs further validation.
