Abstract: In order to reduce the exploitation of peat in non‐renewable resources ,based on floating‐seedling system mode ,researched relations on grow th of flue‐curedtobacco seedlings and four substrates (River sand ,riversediment ,MountainSandand conventionalnursery substrate) .The studies show thatriver sand , river sediment andconventionalmatrixemergence ratearehigher than 90% ,thehelicalrootincidenceisless than 2% ;river sand ,conventionalmatrixconducive to rootgrowth ,thetobacco seedlingsanumber of lateral roots , twolateral root numberandroot volumeperformancebestriver sandmatrix ;river sediment and conventional matrix sowed 40d the tobacco seedlings NR activity are higher than the river sand and mountain sand ;ground and underground fresh and dry weight on the conventional the seedling matrix and river sand ma‐trix were weight larger ;river sand and mountain matrix quality tobacco seedling roots strong vitality ex‐hibit higher .The conventional tobacco seedlings nursery substrate qualities is superior to the other three , w hile river sand matrix also show s that the quality of the good tobacco seedlings ,the relatively poor quali‐ty of river sediment matrix of tobacco seedlings .
